Three Simple Steps to Improving Your Branding

Since Absolute Vision Media was formed, one of our greatest strengths to our clients, both local Chicago and nationally, is a focus on brand consistency in our projects. Whether we’ve needed to fit within a global brand framework, or helped guide a mid-sized business through the challenges of developing their brand identity, Absolute Vision has been there to guide our clients through this. But for companies who are looking to be more mindful of their own branding, here are three small steps they can take to move in the right direction.

Check Your Consistency
Think about your vendors; you don’t just want the cheapest prices, you want a consistent and reliable source. Your branding is what you want your company to be known for, both consciously and subconsciously. Many companies simply don’t realize that they are using multiple logos and competing slogans, and it creates a confusing message to your customer. Do some housekeeping! Update your letterheads, refresh your business cards, and scrub through your website to make sure you don’t have outdated images.

Make a Style Guide
The purpose of a style guide isn’t immediately apparent to many companies. Even Google’s original CEO Larry Page used to cringe when he heard the word branding. But think of it much like your company values statement – it states your goals and in a simple and clear way. It also prevents any ambiguity from individuals outside the company from making incongruities to your company’s presentation, whether that be journalists, vendors, or anyone else.

Get Everyone Involved
Projects work best when every member is involved. Your team is a vital resource, and getting them onboard with a company-wide decision will reap benefits. Have meetings, create internal demonstrations, and give little perks like new business cards. You’ll find that a clear message gives a clear direction, and that’s an improvement to morale and productivity.
